Swamp Dog Field Trial: June 8-10, 2007

Field trials present a rare opportunity to see some of the greatest working dogs in the world do the extraordinary things they have been bred for. The Swamp Dog Field Trial was held in Winslow, New Jersey during the three days from June 8 to June 10, 2007. The entire event was wonderfully orchestrated by an army of volunteers on beautiful properties that were generously made available to the club to host this event.

I had dreams of being able to photograph every dog, but didn't even get half way there. Over the course of the three days, I shot over 700 photos of rapidly moving targets at distances of 25 -100 yards. I tried hard to keep accurate records of the dogs in each photo. However, the sheer volume of black dogs, many closely related, makes it certain that I have messed up in at least some caes. Please contact me if you notice an error so that I can make the needed correction. I have hundreds of photos that are not being shown -- often because the photos are simply bad, but other times because I had trouble identifying the dog or already had a good picture of the same dog and didn't want to be overly repetitive. I've presented a selection of about 80 of the better shots. If you are interested in purchasing copies of the images, have comments or corrections, or are interested in seeing if I already have or am available to take photos of a dog that you don't see, please contact me at jjg@wwworld.com or 215-321-9254. Prints are available in sizes from about 5 x 7 to 16 x 20.
